  • We have conducted a two day Exhibition on 09th and 10th October in Conference Hall. We invited students from schools and various departments in our college. The program was started at 10.00 Am and the Secretary Dr.C.A.Vasugi was invited to inaugurate the exhibition. The program was started with the blessing of god by sing prayer song by our department students.After inauguration the schools which we have invited started to visit the exhibition. And the students from various    departments in our college have visited the exhibition. After visiting the exhibition the school students are asked to attend the mental health program and it was given by Mrs.B.Kavitha, HOD i/c, Department of psychology.

  • We have conducted a seminar on the Stress Management & Overcoming Behavioral Addiction was held on 14th August 2023, Venue Sister Nivedita Hall at Kongunadu Arts and Science College. The seminar was organized by the Department of Psychology & Commerce Banking and Insurance. Around 157 students were attended the seminar. The seminar aimed to provide insight into stress management and overcoming behaviour addiction.the chief guest of the program was Dr.P.Thamilselvan, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, PSG College of Ars and Science, Coimbatore, delivered an engaging, informative, enlightening, and practical guest lecture. His presentation aimed to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of stress management and behavioural addiction, its impact on mental and physical health, and effective strategies for managing and reducing stress in daily life, for recovery and long-term management. 
  • The department of Psychology has organized an workshop on Self-defense and Counselling on 7th,8th, 10th & 11th August-2023 Venue Sister Nivedita Hall at Department of Psychology Kongunadu Arts and Science College. The chief guest for the programme is from Aram Foundation Charitable Trust, Coimbatore. Mr. Gokul Raj founder and trustee and martial arts trainer provided the students with self-defense with the help of his volunteers. Ms.Anu Kiruthika Manager, has given the counseling on the topic women's mental health. The aim of this programme is to promote the awareness on women's mental health and provide better counselling for girl child. The workshop conducted for various departments first year female students and around 456 students were participated in this workshop. The workshop aimed to empower participants with a holistic approach to personal well-being and essential self-defence skills, enhance their personal safety awareness, the risk of abuse and cybercrime, mental and physical resilience, and boost their confidence in handling potential threats. Provide guidance on how to protect themselves in the digital world, and impact basic self-defence skills for personal safety.
  • Department of psychology have conducted a one day seminar on the title of “Enlightening Young Minds” on 27th July 2023 in Conference Hall. We invited students and differently abled student from various departments in our college. The Resource person of the seminar was Ms. Radhika.AJ, Artisan & founder, Queenbee paper crafts & creative arts, Coimbatore.The chief guest started their motivation seminar by telling their real life struggles and her victory. And she gifted the doll to our department which was made by her with the used news paper and tissues.
  • The Inaugural ceremony of Psychology Association and Samrakshana Counselling centre has been organized by department of Psychology on 24.07.2023 in the conference hall. The resource person of the inaugural was DR.B.Selva Raj, Controller of Examination, Government Arts College, Coimbatore.There were preliminary events like the lightening of lamp by the resource person and he has renowned the counselling centre named SAMRAKSHANA by cutting the ribbon and formulated the case history format for the various types of counselling. Then the resource person has honoured the President and Vice President of the psychology association with their respective badges and both of them has taken their oath for the post of President and Vice president. The resource person had an inspirational speech on benefits of counselling and purpose of psychology in everyday life. He also clearly stated as how such an association is useful for a bright future of students from any field of study.
  • Department of psychology has organized a webinar on Teen’s Depression & Coping Strategies” on 17th march 2023 in Google meet (www.meet.google.com/ink-yqqs-ubr). The resource person of the webinar was Mrs.S.V.Jayasree, Special Educator, Birla public school, Doha, Qatar. 37 students from the Department of Psychology had participated in the webinar. The resource person started the webinar with little fundamentals of abnormal psychology. She elaborated on the developmental age of teens with a brief explanation about mood disorders and depression which helped everyone with understanding the essentials about the theme. She emphasized the importance of self-care, support and seeking help at the right time to battle depression at any point of time. She furthermore broke many myths and stigmas about depression and mental illnesses. Her webinar provided the deep sense of understanding for the budding psychologists and her friendly approach towards the students had provided a fair ground in the process of learning about mood disorders in teenage people. The webinar was wrapped up with vote of thanks. Overall, the webinar provided a positive note towards mental health.  
  • Department of psychology has organized the one-day seminar on the topicNew perceptive of Indian psychology” on 10th march 2023 in C-54 class room. The resource person of the seminar MR. S. Jeladharan, Counsellor and Trainer, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore.The resources person had started the seminar with good thoughts of psychology. He enlightens the perspectives of Indian psychology with the brief explanation which has made everyone with the optimistic outlook. He emphasized the importance of Indian psychology in an understandable edition.  His seminar has provided the deep sense of understanding for the budding psychologist and his sparkling words has provided each and every one with the greater insight into Indian psychology.
  • KASC institution innovation council, Department of psychology and PG and Research Department of biochemistry jointly organized a seminar entitled " How to get start-up idea" in conference hall on 18.06.2022. A total of 167 students and research scholars actively participated in the seminar delivered by Dr.B.Divya priya, Associate Professor, Department of commerce, KASC, Coimbatore, gave key notes to the gathering on what is startups? How to get startup ideas? standards essential for startups etc. The chief guest interacted with the students enthusiastically and students are enriched their knowledge on the respective topic.
  • We have conducted a seminar on the title “Career guidance and counselling” at Sister Nivedhita hall on 08.02.2023, around 11.00 am. The Resource Person of the program was Mr.B.A.Abdul Malik, CEO, USC Academy, Udumalpet. The objective of the program was to give insight to the students on getting a government job and leading a different perspective in all the walks of life and approach every possible thing and becoming a successful professional. The session started with prayer song “Arivile Thelivu Nenjile Urudhi” sung by the students of our department. The participants of the program consisted of 261 students and teaching faculty from various departments of Kongunadu arts and science college, Coimbatore. Mrs.B.Kavitha, Asst professor and Head i/c, department of Psychology, welcomed the gathering and felicitated the chief guest with a shawl. Mr. Arunachalam, Asst professor, department of psychology, gave the chief guest introduction. Then the session was handed over to the guest speaker. The guest lecture on “Career guidance and counselling” helped the students get an idea of how to get a government job in various departments. The speaker elaborated on his experience with various people and how several people’s life changed after joining government services. The session was thought provoking and the students were engaged in the session actively. The students got insights on how to approach various govt jobs and examinations like TNPSC, SSC, UPSC, the importance of HMT management, how to reach the destination? and being a responsible officer for both personal and social welfare. He ended the seminar by the doubt clarification session. Ms. Mary Gayathri, Asst professor, department of psychology, delivered the vote of thanks. The session was wrapped with the National Anthem.
  • The department of psychology organised a workshop on Mental Status Examination (MSE) and Case Study Reporting on 25/01/2023. The chief guest of the workshop was Mr. Arun Kumar, Asst professor and head (i/c), CMS college of science and commerce, coimbatore. The students of II Bsc and IIIBsc constituted the partcipants of the workshop. The aim of the programme was to upskill students in the practical area of case history taking and Mental status examination. PPTs were presented for the better understanding of the core concepts. The facilitator made the students to take case history & MSE during the session and cleared their doubts. The students find it very useful to learn which would definitely help them in employment.
  • The department of Psychology has organized an workshop on Self-defense and Counselling from 18/10/22 to 21/10/2022 at the class rooms C-29, 51 and 52. It was four days programme. The chief guest for the programme is from Aram Foundation Charitable Trust, Coimbatore. Mr. Gokul Raj founder and trustee and martial arts trainer provided the students with self-defense with the help of his volunteers. Ms.Anu Kiruthika Manager, has given the counseling on the topic women's mental health. The aim of this programme is to promote the awareness on women's mental health and provide better counselling for girl child. The self-defense is practiced to tackle against the threat for the individual. 428 girl children from different departments of our college participated in this workshop. The participation certificates were provided for the students who took part in the workshop. The workshop is very much beneficial for the girl children and the feedback was also collected from them which provided us with the positive vibes. This programme is one of the eye opener for the girl children which is much needed in the present condition of living. The self-defense session was very wonderful which included 8 defense techniques. Overall the workshop has made an astonishing effect among the students of Kongunadu Arts and Science College.
  • The department of psychology celebrated the World Mental Health Day on 10/10/2022 which is observed on October 10 of every year, with the intention of promoting mental health awareness and organising the effort to improve mental health. Around 8.30 am, the program began in front of the conference hall. The students of our department took an active role in highlighting the year's theme by creating a vibrant rangoli design. As the theme of the year was “make mental health for all a global priority”. We also distributed positive quotes to the students and teachers to brighten their morning and spread awareness of the special day.  The programme was honored and actively engaged by the Principal and Dean of Academics, shared their thoughts about the mental health day and needs among young adults and took part with the ceremony.
  • We have conducted a seminar on the title “Be a change maker” at Sister Nivedita hall on 13.09.2022, around 9.00 am. The Resource Person of the program was Ms. M. Anu Kiruthika, Manager, Aram foundation charitable trust, Coimbatore. The objective of the program was to give insight to the students on being a change maker and have a different perspective in all the walks of life and approach every possible thing and becoming a sustainable human being. All the students were registered in the registration desk. The participants of the program consisted of 177 students and teaching faculty from various departments of Kongunadu arts and science college, Coimbatore.
  • As stated in the Government Order, Letter No. 1535/A1/2022-1, dated: 07.02.2022, Awareness Programme on Problems faced by the students over usage of social media held on 12th March, 2022 at 10.00am to 12noon through MS-Teams link https://teams.live.com/meet/ 9586477393482. The Department of Psychology & Department of Computer Applications, Konguandu Arts and Science College jointly organized the programme for the parents as well as for the students. 

Ø  On 24/12/2021 we have arranged the field trip to Marialaya Rehabilitation home for street girls as a part of field trip program for our II B.Sc. students to know about mental illness faced by the girls and helping them to recover from their problems through Counselling.

 

 

Past Events:

·        All Students of our department have attended webinar on Covid-19 which was organized by Psychological Foundation, Conducted by  Mrs.Priya Senthil (Coordinator), Presided over by Dr.Vanathi Srinivasan.·    

    All students of our department provided counselling services to the Covid patients with the help of Dr.Karthikeyan and Mr.Gokul (Global Medical Centre). Student-volunteers did invaluable service to the patients by helping them keep a positive frame of mind. With a sense of serving the society, they spoke to the patients, provided them moral support, and motivated them to think positively. Students to actively involve themselves, to serve the community at all times, and especially at times of need. Date of Counselling : 11/06/2021 to 22/06/2021.

·        We have organized the Webinar on “Emotional Intelligence as a Life Skill”, led by Dr.Prof.Captain.(IN).M. Ramasubramaniyam, Chief administrative Officer and Secretary, Board of Governers, IIM, Kashipur, Uttarakhand, on 13/03/2021. Students from various departments were

Others

Our teaching staff Dr.S.Mahalakshmi, HOD and Mrs.B.Kavitha, Assistant Professor, visited many Government schools to hold an awareness programs for the students. In this regard, permission was obtained from the Principals of various schools namely Girls High School, Asokapuram, Corporation Kamalanathan Memorial Higher Secondary School, Venkitapuram, Coimbatore and T.A. Ramalingam Chettiar Higher Secondary School, Saibabacolony, Coimbatore etc. Educated the students regarding the usage of social media, problem faced by them on over usage of social media, remedial measures, exam tips, memory techniques, mental health awareness etc.
