12th Graduation Day

The 12th Graduation Day of Kongunadu Arts and Science College (Autonomous)was held on 05 October 2019 at the Dr.MarappaG.Aruchami Auditorium in the college premises. Dr.C.A.Vasuki, Secretary and President, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, presided over the function. Dr.G.Srinivas, Joint Secretary, UGC South Eastern Regional Office, Hyderabad was the Chief Guest and delivered the Graduation Day Address. 254 Post graduates and 958 Under Graduates received their degrees on this occasion.The Graduation Day began at 10 am with the traditional procession of academic dignitaries. This was followed by the Tamil Thai Vazhthu. Dr.C.A.Vasuki, Secretary and Director, welcomed the gathering. In her Welcome Address, Dr.C.A.Vasukiemphasised the significance of this year’s Graduation Day, since the students would be receiving their degrees from a College of Excellence. She pointed that this noble institution which has been rendering phenomenal service in the field of education has seen enormous growth and magnificent progress.Congratulating the new graduates, the Secretary said that personal and professional success depended upon the way one thinks, acts and what you believe in. “Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education,” she advised, quoting Martin Luther King Jr.She also emphasised on the students’ vision should be on their self development and nation building. Andshe also quoted from the words of our Hon’ble Prime MinisterShriNarendraModi, “No matter where you work, where you live, do also keep in mind, the needs of your motherland, your mother India. Think of how your work, research, innovation will help your motherland. It is our social responsibility”. “With the skills, knowledge and moral values you have acquired at Kongunadu Arts and Science College, you are fully equipped to create a New India.”The Secretaryextended her congratulations to the new graduates and wished them all success. She then formally declared open the Graduation Day. Dr.M.Lekshmanaswany, Principal then presented the report of the activities of the college which had progressed to the status of College of Excellence given by the UGC, attaining good position in the MHRD ranking. Dr.G.Srinivas, Joint Secretary, UGC South Eastern Regional Office, Hyderabad was the Chief Guest and delivered the Graduation Day Address, in his Graduation Day address he congratulated the graduates for their remarkable achievementsin the field of academics and research and he appreciated the management for their continued pursuance of excellence in academics. He counselled the graduates that they should not think that their education has ended with this degree alone, for education means the realisation of the responsibilities one has towards the society and country. He also said that the graduates now should move from a nurtured environment to a practical oriented life and he also thrown light for the adoption of new learning capabilities like e-learning, self-based, project based, internship based learning activities with the fine arts and co-curricular activities. Commitment to moral and ethical values in following the two principles of Mahatma Gandhi such as truth and non-violence with academics, the younger generation can make the country a super power nation very soon. He concluded his speech by advising the young graduates to never stop dreaming and wished them to dream big and strive to realise their goals with firm and fierce determination. He also congratulated the college to continue as one of the best institutions in the country. He then administered the Pledge.This was followed by the Signing the Record by, the Dissolving Ceremony and the returning Academic Procession. The ceremony closes with National Anthem.
