ISCA, Coimbatore chapter sponsored One Day STATE LEVEL Workshop On “ALGAL BIOTECHNOLOGY TECHNIQUES AND PROSPECTS FOR THE SUSTAINABLE BIOECONOMY” was jointly organized by Intellectual property Rights cell, KASC i-HUB, PG and Research Department of Biotechnology, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore on 24.07.2019 at the college premises. The welcome address was given by Dr. V. Bhuvaneshwari, Associate Professor and Head, PG and Research Department of Biotechnology, KASC. The theme of the programme was given by the Organizer Dr. G. Anbarasi, Assistant Professor in Biotechnology, KASC. The presidential address was given by Dr. M. Lakeshmanaswamy, Principal incharge, KASC. Dr. V. Chinnusamy, Chief Executive officer, KASC inaugurated the gathering. Dr. S. Paulsamy, Dean R & D, KASC and Dr. V. Balasubramaniam, Dean, Academics, KASC felicitated the gathering. Dr. M. Palanisamy, Scientist D, BSI, SRC, Coimbatore, took on the first session on the topic of “Marine macro algal diversity and perspective”. A lecture on “microalgal bioeconomy” was given by Mrs. RA. Lavanyasri, Resarch Scholar, Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai. The participants were demonstrated with cultivation and harvesting technology of Spirulina sp along with production of value added products from Spirulina sp. by Mrs. RA. Lavanyasri, Research Scholar, Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai. The participants had hands-on training on the above technologies. Vote of thanks proposed by the student joint secretary Ms. A. Amrin, 3rd BSc., Biotechnology, KASC. Out of 250 participants, 100 participants were from 8 different institutions got benefited out of this one day workshop. This workshop act as an eye-opener for the participants including Faculty members, Research Scholars, Industrialists, Entrepreneurs and young Students. Dr. V. Bhuvaneshwari, Associate professor & Head, Dr. G. Anbarasi and Dr. R. Ranjith kumar, Assistant Professors, Kongunadu Arts and Science College organized this workshop.
