In order to introduce a focused research culture and strengthen all research activities, the Management has appointed a Dean for Research and Development. The Dean is assisted by a Research Committee in identifying thrust areas and in formulating research projects. The Research Committee undertakes a periodic review of the progress of various Research projects while encouraging others to prepare and submit proposals for projects in emerging thrust areas of Research that have a practical application useful to society.
The College has a well-deserved reputation of excellence in Post Graduate Teaching and Research for more than 2 decades. It has evolved into a successful center for offering 13 MPhil. and 13 PhD. Programmes in different disciplines.
Large number of MPhil. and PhD. scholars completing the programmes shows the strength of the Research Departments and the rich experience of the Research guides enabled by state of the art laboratory facilities.
To encourage research, management has come forward to give funds for PG students under Students Project Scheme. Apart from regular activities, Research Scholars Forum meets once in every fortnight to discuss the recent trends in their respective fields.
Department of Biotechnology is offering Microbial culture bank through which it is able to supply 3 fungal cultures and 21 bacterial cultures to those who are in need for Experimental / Research study purpose as an extension service to the society at large.

The College has envisaged an elaborate and vibrant research policy, which will imbibe a strong research culture and will integrate it with academics at both student and faculty levels.

The institution is committed to produce and promote research of the highest quality, devoid of plagiarism of any sort and other unethical practices while trying to allow academic freedom and innovative thinking. The Publication Ethics Committee (PEC) is constituted to monitor the originality of the data.

The permission of the Governing Body is requested to purchase software ‘URKUND’ and install it in the Library and Information centre to check plagiarism. The Governing Body members unanimously gave their approval to purchase the software and after purchasing it, the fact may be included in the Self Study Report to be sent to NAAC.
Linkages shall be established between research strategies and activities at institutional and programme level to enhance the student learning experience and research activities at National and International level to generate new knowledge and apply for innovation and value creation
Dr. S. Paulsamy
Dr. S. Paulsamy, Former Head of Botany Department, Kongunadu Arts and Science College has completed 32 years of teaching experience for UG and PG Botany with 33 years of research experience. His area of specialization is plant ecology and conservation biology.
He is the recipient of Tamil Nadu State Government Environment Award for the year, 2009. Included as expert in Environment Database, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India for the year, 2008 and nominated by the same Ministry as a member in the expert committee to revise the Champion classification of Indian Forests. Received 'Best Senior Scientist Award (Botany)' for the year, 2016 from PEARL - A Foundation for Educational Excellence. Selected as 'Science Communicator' in the 104th Indian Science Congress held at Shree Venkateshwara University, Tirupathi during January, 2017. Produced 21 Ph.Ds and 31 M.Phils and completed 8 major and minor research projects funded by MoEN, UGC and TNSCST. He has organized 21 National level seminars. Published 215 articles in various reputed international and national journals and written 2 books. He is the editor of Kongunadu Research Journal and reviewer for several international SCI journals like Tropical Ecology, Industrial Crops and Products, African Journal of Biotechnology etc. Being a resources person, delivered popular lectures in more than 60 institutions in various topics of natural resource management.
Life member in professional bodies viz., Range Management Society of India, International Society for Tropical Ecology and Indian Science Congress Association. Visited UAE and Thailand for participating seminars and delivered lead lectures.
