Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) of Kongunadu Arts and Science College aims to promote entrepreneurial awareness among the students and to foster entrepreneurship for the generation of wealth and employment. The mission of EDC is to make the students to know the importance of entrepreneurship and to equip them with necessary qualities of entrepreneurship for the strong need of success in their Career perspective.
Objectives of EDC:
EDC of the college intends to nurture the passion for entrepreneurship among the youth by creating knowledge based hi-tech ventures, more avenues for employment opportunities in order to convert the job seekers into job creators in the way to lead our nation towards entrepreneurial excellence. Thus, Organization of the camps and orientation of programmes through EDC engenders creativity, ability and employability to the students to for the economical growth of the nation.
Activities of EDC:
Chartered Accountancy is one of the most prestigious qualifications in accounting and it can be pursued immediately after the 12th Standard examinations. It helps to equip the student with thorough knowledge of auditing, taxation and accounting. The students have to register with Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to appear for CA examination. There are three layers of examinations viz., entry level test, first stage and final stage.
A cost accountant is expected to collect, assimilate, collate and analyze financial information from all areas of the organization. Cost Accountancy is a profession which is developed by Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India (ICWAI). There are two layers of examinations in CMA (Cost and Management Accountants viz., Intermediate and final examinations after completing the foundation layer.
In order to increase the number of accounting specialists, the college has taken sincere steps to conduct the entry level professional training coaching inside the campus with the support of Mr. U. Ilanchezhian, Professional course coordinator. The students have been encouraged to appear for entry level examinations for CA and CMA. The students eagerly join in the courses and clear CMA / CA foundation examinations. The coaching is offered for the past 4 years and 50 percent of the appeared candidates ensure success in their examinations. Dr. M. Revathi Bala and Mr. P. Kumar are the internal coordinators for conducting these courses.

Kongunadu Arts and Science College, apart from teaching and extension activities is doing outstanding and innovative research in several fields of basic and applied science. The college recognizes its responsibility to propagate and disseminate knowledge. Hence, there is a need to encourage creativity and scholarly works and to develop new and useful materials, devices and other intellectual property. Creating the intellectual property shall have potential for commercialization, which in turn contributes to the professional development of the individual involved, enhances the reputation of the college, offers expanded educational opportunities for students and promotes public welfare. The college is committed to provide all sorts of conducive environment to the researchers which results in creation of intellectual property. In order to protect the intellectual property thus being created, the college establishes an intellectual property cell on 01.06.2017.
The booming research and innovative teaching necessitates proactively exploring and bringing it to light the treasure of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in our institution. In this direction, Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR) was established in our institution on 01.06.2017. It was established to create awareness and offer assistance to academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators to identify, protect and manage novel ventures effectively through CIPR. The mandate of this centre shall be to create IPR awareness, encourage filing of patent and facilitate the process of patent filing and maintenance of IPR.
