TESTING AND EVALUATION

a. Scheme of Assessment (Applicable from ODD semester of 2009-2010 academic year onwards)

There are two components in learning assessment at our college
i. Continuous Internal Assessment
ii. End of Semester Examination

i. Continuous Internal Assessment

Assessment of CIA (Theory)

1. CIA Test

Every semester, two centralized CIA tests for each paper are conducted. Each test carries maximum marks of 75 or the marks equivalent to that of the external maximum marks of a paper. The first test is conducted in the middle of each semester at about 45th day from the commencement of semester, covering 50% of the syllabus and the second test at the end of the semester covering the remaining portion. The sum of the marks obtained in both the tests will be appropriately converted into marks allotted for the test component of CIA of a paper.

2. Assignment/Seminar

One Assignment / seminar for each paper must be submitted / presented by a student in each semester. The marks allotted to this component will be awarded based on the performance of the candidate.

Assessment of CIA (Practical)

CIA marks for Practical are awarded based on the performance of students in CIA practical test and observation note book & regularity.

1. CIA Practical Test

For each practical, students should write one model practical test for External maximum marks of the practical. The marks obtained in the test will be appropriately converted into marks allotted for the test component of CIA of the practical.

2. Observation Notebook & Regularity

The marks allotted for observation notebook & regularity are awarded based on the performance of students in writing procedure, results of the practical done during every practical class, regularity in attending practical class, which will be accounted based on the attendance maintained separately for practical class, and punctuality in the submission of observation notebook.

ii. End of Semester Examination

A semester consists of a minimum of 90 days excluding the End of Semester Examination days. End-of-Semester Examinations including practicals for all Courses taught in a semester will be held at the end of the semester. The detailed dates of exam will be announced by Controller of Examinations (COE), 20 days in advance.

b. Reappearance for Arrear Subjects

Students who failed in the End-of-semester examinations can take up arrear examinations to be held along with the subsequent regular End-of-semester examinations or separately.

c. Special Supplementary Examination

In order to provide an opportunity to the final UG and PG students to complete the programmes in the same year itself and help them for vertical mobility, special supplementary End-of-Semester examinations will be conducted in about 20 days from the date of publication of results every year for the final semester theory papers and also for the candidates who fail by only one theory paper of the previous semesters. Students, who wish to apply for special supplementary End-of-Semester examinations, can do so within 7 days from the date of publication of results.
The examination fee for special supplementary examination will be three times that of the regular fee per theory paper.
