THE DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS
The Department of Mathematics is one of the most promising departments in the institution. It has been established right from the inception of the college, with faculty strength of 20, catering to the needs of the Under Graduate and Post Graduate Courses in Mathematics. The Department was started in 1973 and progressed steadily to postgraduate level.In 2000, it introduced the research programmes leading to MPhil and PhD. in Mathematics. Under Graduate Course in Mathematics with Computer Application was started in 2004.

Objectives
To provide strong Mathematical background to Graduates and Post graduates to cope with the needs arising from emerging trends at National and International levels.
To provide basic and advanced skills to students in computer software enabling self - reliance and maximization of capabilities.
To enable students to play vital roles in the fields of Mathematics at the local level and remain globally competitive.
To undertake significant research project individually at PG and Research levels.
To popularize and project in proper perspective the scope of Mathematics so as to attract young talents to take up teaching and research careers in Mathematics.

Student Achievements
- Received overall trophy for cultural and academic events for the year 2006.
- One of our students participated in “YSFP–2008” Programme organized by IISC, Bangalore.
- More than 40% of our Under Graduate students are placed in various software companies through the placement cell of our college. Most of the remaining students are pursuing higher studies.
- More than 90% of MPhil degree holders are placed in various Engineering and Arts Colleges as lecturers and are pursuing Research Programmes like MPhil, PhD, P.D.F, (abroad) etc.
- 9 students received gold medals in UG and 12 in PG.
