The emergence of a College with a difference focusing on the needs of the rural population was conceived on an auspicious festival day dedicated to the celebration of “Wisdom and Knowledge” symbolized by Goddess Saraswathi. It was on Saraswathi Pooja day on 16th October 1972 that the late President Sri. V.K. Lakshmanan, M.Sc., a progressive agriculturist and dedicated social worker and Dr. M.Aruchami, M.Sc., BT Ph.D FAZ FRES (Lond), the present President voiced their desire to start a “College with a difference”. The College formally came into being on 12th August 1973 with men of eminence from different walks of life constituting the College Governing Board.
Kongunadu Arts and Science College (KASC), Coimbatore has been Re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade Status (3.64 CGPA in 3rd Cycle). A feather in the cap of the College is that the college recently attained ‘College of Excellence’ status awarded by University Grants Commission. In the National Institutional Ranking Framework released by Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) in the year 2017, our College has secured 3rd rank in Research and 19th place in overall performance in the country. The golden history of our college has recorded 44 years of excellence in imparting higher education to the socially and economically weaker sections of the students community in the area.
