Dr. S. Ravisankar, Associate Professor in Zoology is presently serving as the Dean for Research and Development of the College. He has obtained his post graduation in Zoology from Madras Christian College, Chennai in 1981 and PhD in Aquatic Toxicology from Loyola College, affiliated to Madras University, Chennai in 1986. Later, he started his career by teaching pest and their control to undergraduate students and entomology to post graduate students. Now, He has 23 years of experience both in Teaching and Research to his credit.
His expertise in entomology and eco-toxicology has engendered successful 17 M.Phil and 2 Ph.D candidates in the field.
His research knowledge is well proved through publication of 7 scientific papers in reputed journals & 15 scientific presentations in reputed journals
and 15 scientific presentations in conferences/seminars. He has also participated in 12 conferences/seminars/ workshops. Being an Organizer of a National Symposium on “Aquatic Insects and Biodiversity of insects” adds to his research tribute. During the event, he also served as the author of the “Proceedings of the National Symposium on Aquatic Environment and Biodiversity of Insects”. His contributions to research were well recognized by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, which sanctioned a project on “Kaveri Riverine System”, Co-investigated by him. He had also, enlightened the Govt. College lecturers, by acting as the Co-ordinator for the Refresher Course sponsored by Regional Director of College Education, Govt. of Tamil Nadu.
