The Entrepreneurship Development Cell was started in the year 2005-06 with the Vision and Mission of motivating the energetic students as Job Providers rather than the Job Seekers. The Cell is constituted with Dr.K. Pongiannan as Co-ordinator, Mrs. S. Sivashankari HOD of Bio-Informatics, Mr. M. Prakash HOD of B.Com CA., and Mr. D. Ramesh Kumar Assistant Professor in B.Com CA., as Executive Members and 100 Student Members. The activities of the Cell are:

i)   Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp
ii)  Entrepreneurship Development Programme
iii) Seminars and Guest lectures

1. A Four – Day DST Sponsored Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp:

    The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Kongunadu Arts and Science College and Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology (CIMAT) had jointly organized a four day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India at Kongunadu Arts & Science College between 19th and 22nd September 2007. The Camp was inaugurated by Mr. N. Vishwanathan, Vice-President, CODISSIA on 19th September 2007 at 9.30 a.m. Successful entrepreneurs from various fields of business, industry, banking etc., were invited as guest speakers and they shared their experiences informing how to become successful entrepreneurs. The camp provided awareness to students as how to become entrepreneurs and the various avenues available for them. About 125 students from various academic disciplines actively participated in the camp.

1. A Five Day Workshop on Bridal Make-up, Application of Mehandhi and Flower Tying:

    The Workshop was conducted from 5th to 9th March 2007 to motivate the girl students to become entrepreneur in future. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. K. Vasantha, Reader, Dept of Adult and Continuing Education, Avinashilingam University Coimbatore. The various skills like Mehandhi application, bridal makeup and flower tying were taught by Mrs. R.Vijayalakshmi, Beauty course Faculty, Avinashilingam University. They were 39 participants and they were highly benefited. On the first day of the workshop different methods of flower tying required for bridal make up were taught. On the second and third day application of Mehandhi both Indian and Arabic styles were taught. On the fourth and fifth day each participant was taught individually the art of bridal make up which was practically applied among the participants.

1. A Three- Day DST Sponsored Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp:

    This Camp was conducted from 10-08-2005 to 12-08-2005. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. J Balu, President CODISSIA on 10th August 2005 at 9.30.a.m. The Camp was organized with four sessions per day and successful entrepreneurs from the fields of Business, Industry and Banking were invited as Guest Speakers for each session. They shared their success stories and the problems faced by them to become an innovative entrepreneur. The Camp provided awareness to the students in the identification of business opportunities and avenues for the entrepreneurs, support and financial assistance from the government agencies, Banks and Financial Institutions for starting an industry, Stress Management for entrepreneurs, Project preparation for starting an industry etc. More than 100 Students form various academic discipline actively participated in the camp. The students were taken to the Roots Industries Ltd, Ganapathy, Coimbatore and Acquasub Engineering, Thudialur, Coimbatore on the last day of the Awareness Camp. The Industrial Visit proved to be an opener for the students.
